A simple extraction involves a tooth that is visible and easily accessed. In the case that you need a tooth removed the dentist will use a local anesthetic to numb the tooth and surrounding tissues. They will then begin to loosen it with an elevator until they can fully remove it with a pair of forceps.

You may need to have a tooth extracted if decay or infection has grown too deep into the tooth. In cases of injury or overcrowding, a tooth extraction may also be recommended.
